Blues

Two-frame cartoon. Frame 1: Bespectacled editor is at her desk, huddled over a set of proofs and wielding a red pen. The title says “Finding a typo at first proofs” and the editor says, “Huh! I’m pretty good at this!” Frame 2: Bespectacled editor is at her desk, hunched over printer’s proofs. Her right hand is cradling her head. The title says “Finding a typo at printer’s proofs” and the editor says, “I am TERRIBLE at my job.”I keep trying to remind myself that this is what bluelines are for. Or, as trusted colleague Jennifer Glossop has wisely said, “If it doesn’t make it into print, it doesn’t count.”
